Do you ever feel like the food you eat is working against you? Do you feel sleepy and bloated after a regular meal? 

It is proven that sugar in excess becomes toxic. Some experts advise to eliminate: alcohol, artificial sweeteners, soft drinks with sugar, sugar, high-sugar fruit, high-salt foods, excess gluten, beans, and dairy in order to get a flat tummy. That is way too many restrictions in my opinion.

Eating a diet high in refined carbohydrates and sugar causes bloating. Plus sugar causes people to eat more, despite the negative consequences such as weight gain, fatigue, and moodiness.

I believe in first things first, if you eat too much sugar, your taste buds can’t feel natural taste. So let’s start with eliminating excess sugar from your diet.

For the next five days try to avoid this food by substituting it with a healthy version:

  • Sugar (do not substitute sugar with artificial sweeteners, they are the worst. Choose natural alternatives)
  • High-sugar fruit like banana and grapes (choose berries, pears, apples)
  • Potatoes (the yam is a good alternative)
  • White bread, baked goods, white rice and pasta (substitute with whole grain, real sourdough versions of bread, whole grain pasta, brown or wild rice)
  • Alcohol in excess – How to deal with a Happy Hour? – Whoops… what was meant to be one drink after work turned into a taxi home at 3am. Yep, we’ve been there. Hangovers just have this way of saying “you probably shouldn’t have had that last drink, or three”. My tip? Try to keep it to a minimum during the weight loss program. When partying, unsweetened soda water with ice and lemon alternated with alcoholic drinks can help prevent over-consumption of alcohol.
